‘Paws in the Park’ To Help Local Animals

Looking for something fun to do with your pooch?

Check out the Helping Paws 11th annual “Paws in the Park” Walk-a-Thon Sunday, Sept. 19. The walk will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Veterans Acres Park in Crystal Lake.

There will be several attractions, including agility demonstrations, an animal communicator, a fashion show and pet blessings. A pet photographer will be on hand, along with a vendor who does laser engraved tags with your dog’s picture on them! Bring along a photo of your pup if you’re interested in getting one done. They’re really cool!

There also will be fun stuff for the kids, including face painting and crafts, a juggler and caricatures. Several other vendors will be present with raffles and lots and lots of prizes!

Helping Paws is the oldest no-kill facility in McHenry County, serving the community for more than 40 years. Since 1969, thousands of cats and dogs have been placed into loving homes. While waiting for their homes, they are entrusted in the care of Helping Paws, where they are given lots of love and the best of care.

Helping Paws receives no local, state or federal funding and is entirely dependent on contributions. Please join the annual “Paws in the Park” Walk-a-thon and also
collect pledges for the event to help provide the funds necessary to continue helping all the paws of McHenry County!

Camp Bow Wow McHenry fosters dogs for Helping Paws until they find their forever homes. This gives us a chance to give back to the community by providing them with a good temporary home, as well as allowing them to socialize and have a Dog Gone Good Time while they are waiting for that forever home!

Check out the link below for more information and registration forms for the walk, or pick up your forms at Camp Bow Wow McHenry. What a great fall thing to do with your best friend and a great way to help the local animals in need!
