July 8 through 10 – 2010 Sidewalk Sales in Downtown Crystal Lake

July 9 – McHenry Fiesta Days Kick-off, 5 to 10 p.m. at Peterson Park, Petersen Park Road in McHenry
Fiesta Days in McHenry is always a sure sign of summer, and it’s finally here! Performances will be by Boney Knees at 5:30 p.m. and Modern Day Romeos at 8 p.m. And of course there also will be tons of food, drinks and amusement rides. For more information, go to www.mchenrychamber.com.

July 9 – Lunch in the Park (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Dinner in the Park (5 to 8 p.m.) at Depot Park (at Woodstock and Williams) in Crystal Lake
Downtown Crystal Lake/Main Street is pleased to host Lunch in the Park. This is a free concert series featuring local musical talent. Guest are invited to bring their own lunch or buy their meal from one of the downtown restaurants. Food vendors will be available onsite. The newly completed Gazebo will serve as the stage for musicians. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. A limited number of tables and chairs will be available. This year, Downtown Crystal Lake/Main Street also will host Dinner in the Park July 9, featuring the musical talent of Dave Sarkis. For more information, go to www.downtowncl.org.

July 10 – Family Canoe Trip, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Glacial Park, Keystone Landing, 6316 Harts Road in Ringwood
After a lesson on basic canoe safety, paddling techniques and river canoeing, travel about seven miles down the Nippersink Creek, a beautiful high-quality waterway within Glacial Park. You will stop for a picnic, so pack a sack lunch. Also, bring plenty of water, sunscreen, bug spray, and wear shoes suitable for wading. July 10 – MCC and the McHenry County Master Gardeners’ Garden Walk, 9 a.m. at the Master Gardeners’ Demonstration Garden at McHenry County College, 8900 U. S. Highway 14 in Crystal Lake
 Co-sponsored by McHenry County College and the Master Gardeners of McHenry County with the University of Illinois Extension, this self-guided, daylong tour begins at 9 a.m. at the Master Gardeners’ Demonstration Garden at McHenry County College. Along with the demo garden, the walk features seven private gardens in the Crystal Lake/Huntley/Marengo areas and includes a wide variety of garden styles, including Trudi Temple’s Marengo organic farm. The walk has a garden on a city lot, a garden with a “secret” garden, a five-acre property of trees, veggies and flowers, a shady loving garden and two gardens in the Del Webb Community in Sun City. There also will be plants for sale at the Demo Garden on a first-come first-served basis while supplies last. Tickets are $15. Gallery in the Garden, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Woodstock residence of 600 Lawndale Ave.
Enjoy area artists and musicians in this private, three-quarter-acre garden. The garden includes a Japanese meditation garden, a pond feature and both native and imported plantings.
